It’s been a busy fall with the start of school and club soccer for me but we were blessed by a visit from my parents over the first weekend in September. It was their anniversary weekend so we had extra reasons to celebrate.
On Friday night we all met downtown Denver for dinner. Mom and Dad had enjoyed “Spun” an exhibit at the Denver Art Museum about the history of weaving in the United States. Dave made us reservations at Rodigio which is a Brazilian steak house that’s been highly recommended. The servers bring around an assortment of grilled meats to your table and cut it straight off the skewer onto your plate. We enjoyed everything from chicken heart to glazed ham to tri-tip steak. It was all delicious! To end the evening we went to a musical at the Buell Theater. It didn’t end up to be quite the show we had hoped for but still a good day.
Saturday was a relaxing day that started with exploring the Golden Farmer’s Market and along Clear Creek. It was probably the hottest weekend of the summer so we kept looking for ways to stay cool. So later in the day after Dad and I went to my soccer game we met Mom and David at a nice hotel and relaxed by the pool.
Sunday after church, we headed up to St. Mary’s glacier for a short hike. It was pretty busy but the views were gorgeous. We had lunch by the lake and Maddy got to play in the water.
It was a fun, relaxing weekend that was too short. The good news being that Mom and Dad got to enjoy Colorado and Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park before the rain that arrived the day they left. The flooding has devastated large areas of the state and our thoughts and prayers have been with those who are directly impacted.
This last shot was taken last weekend at Herman Lake. It was the first day of relative calm after the heavy storms and we all (Maddy included) needed to get out and stretch our legs.
