We made the early morning drive up to Copper last weekend with Grandpa for some blue-bird skiing. Both boys were wide awake following the 5a departure, and we arrived at the mountain early enough for a little relaxing in the car followed by pancakes, bacon, and coffee at the ski lodge. We caught the flyer light right at the 8:30 am opening time and were rewarded with fresh corduroy turns and fast carving on empty slopes. It turned out to be a Spring-like day and we ventured to the back side where the boys added another black diamond run named “Six Shooter” to their repertoire. Will was a little apprehensive with the steep entrance but quickly found his confidence on the way down. Luckily Grandpa was along to help and we all conquered the rickety double chair lift back up. Back down another black on the front-side and over to East village, we grabbed an early lunch outside at the picnic tables. After that, we hit a few more runs including the terrain park at Josh’s request. We wrapped up skiing around 2 pm or so and made our way back to Denver with two tired boys zonked out in the back seat.
