Elk on South Table Mountain

We saw a nice bull elk, along with one cow, just up South Table Mountain near NREL on September 28, 2012. Luckily, we had Maddy nearby so she couldn’t make a run. They were doing some serious munching on one of the lone trees. This is the first time I’ve seen elk up here and would have been more surprised if I hadn’t bumped into a couple runners the other day who said they saw some elk on the other side. The bull was very nice, although for rutting season, his heram was quick disappointing. Maybe if I get lucky, he’ll stick around for the winter and I’ll find his antlers in the spring!
