Forest Lakes

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what we’ve been up to now that the 14ers are finished. Well, nothing too exciting. We had fun the other day going to a Rockies game, and I’ve been watching a lot of football while gearing up for the MLB playoffs. This time of year I usually like to head up to Rocky Mountain, check out new trails, and watch the bull elk run around wild in the rut. But, with all the flooding, it’s a long drive up that way, so I decided to scout some backcountry ski runs up in the Indian Peaks area west of Boulder. Of course Maddy went nuts when she found all the fresh snow. I was little surprised at the amount of snow, and probably could have got some early coulior turns if I really wanted to. It was a pretty relaxed afternoon, and Maddy played to her heart’s delight. We found a nice rock by the upper lake and shared a turkey sandwich and cheese stick. Linnea has still been coaching soccer this Fall and was up in Fort Collins for the day.

The first picture was my favorite; even though Maddie against the white snow was great!
Looks a little chilli, since I am no way ready for snow yet!
    Thanks for the post.
    Love,
    Mom
