New Years in Washington

We celebrated New Years this year with the Butler family in Washington State. It was fun several days, filled with lots of food, games, relaxing, and playing with the two nieces. We started the trip by making a drive over to Eastern Washington to visit Linnea’s grandparents. The added travel was worth it, and it was good to see them. Too bad we didn’t have extra time on the way back to fit in some skiing because there is a ton of snow up Snoqualmie Pass and the surrounding area. For New Years Eve, we headed out to the family cottage. Adriel managed to get an old motor going and everyone had fun taking boat rides around the Sound.

Luckily our favorite fireworks stand was open so we could bring in the New Years with a bang. New Years itself was a pretty quiet day, filled with “beach” combing, more Dutch Blitz and Settlers, and fresh salmon on the grill to finish things off. During the afternoon, the sky cleared up and we had nice views of Mount Ranier, which we’re thinking about climbing this Spring. We’re back in Golden now, excited for what 2013 will bring.
