My good friend Adam Medema, along with his girlfriend, were in town a little while ago for his annual Westerly ski trip. I met up with them at Loveland one day for some nice Spring-like conditions skiing. It was a perfect blue-bird day and we did laps on the ridge all afternoon. The skiing was great and the company was even better.
On Sunday after church we all headed up to Berthoud Pass for more skiing. This would be William’s first time skiing (on my back)! It was especially fitting that Adam was along since he really introduced me to skiing at Eldora on a Calvin College Spring break trip with the band many years ago. It was great to have 2 more experienced skiers too, not to mention a Ski Patrolmen, along for William’s inaugural trip. It was another nice, warm day, and I quickly found out that having the extra weight on my back gives quite the workout. At the end of the day things got a little wild and after handing William over to Linnea, I got sucked into hopping off a little cliff band. The snow wasn’t too forgiving and off popped the toe piece of my binding on the landing. Luckily we weren’t too far out and managed to get back to the truck. We capped off the day with supper in Idaho Springs and a much earned soak in the hot-tub later!
