Training for the Rim to Rim to Rim

Last night I accompanied Linnea for part of a 20 mile walk around town as she trains from a Rim to Rim to Rim hike in the Grand Canyon in 2 weeks. The hike entails descending down into the Grand Canyon, hiking across it to the other side, up the other rim, back down and across, and back up again. I think its crazy. Overall, it is somewhere around 40 miles. Apparently the best way to train for it is to get in as many miles as possible walking on hard pavement. Since she couldn’t walk with her usual group this week, I was stuck doing the last 10 miles as her bodyguard between 9 and midnight. Maddy was with us too, and she must have thought she died and went to heaven because it was the never ending walk around neighborhoods, along bike paths, and under over-passes. My feet and hips were still sore today and I only did half the distance of Linnea.

Great job of loving her in sickness and health.

Way to go, David! Way to go Linnea! Although, Dave, you should show a little more excitement, & honor for your distinct privilege in taking part in the training. Have fun, Linnea! Love, Mom
